Profile Setup

Updated: May 8, 2026

Your profile controls how Perspective AI represents you in the product and what personal context it can use when helping you design research.

From the profile menu at the bottom of the sidebar, choose Edit your profile, or open the workspace switcher in the sidebar, choose Manage workspace, and select Profile. Use this page to update:

  • Avatar
  • Full name
  • Preferred name
  • Personalization context
  • Training and onboarding email preference

Avatar

Your avatar is shown anywhere Perspective needs to identify you as the account user. Use the avatar uploader on the Profile page to upload or remove an image.

Supported image types are JPEG, PNG, GIF, WebP, BMP, TIFF, and SVG. AVIF is blocked. The maximum upload size is 4 MB.

Name and Preferred Name

Perspective asks for two names:

  • Full name
  • What should we call you?

Your full name is the account name shown to teammates and used where Perspective needs a formal name. The "What should we call you?" value is the preferred name Perspective uses when talking to you in the app.

Personalization

The Personalization field lets you give Perspective context about you, your company, and how you use the product. When the toggle Use this information to inform Perspective AI is enabled, this context can be included when Perspective drafts outlines, proposes research questions, or runs MCP tools on your behalf.

Useful details include:

  • Your company and product
  • Your role and responsibilities
  • Your target customers or participants
  • The kinds of research, forms, or intake flows you usually create
  • Any language, geography, or operating context Perspective should know

Example:

I lead product research at Acme. We build analytics software for B2B SaaS teams. I usually use Perspective for customer discovery, churn interviews, and feedback on new workflows. Our primary customers are product managers and revenue leaders in North America.

Turn the toggle off if you want to save the note but stop using it as AI context.

Training Emails

The Profile page includes an opt-in checkbox for Perspective training and onboarding emails. Turning it off updates your account preference for those emails.
