Roles & Permissions

Updated: May 8, 2026

Perspective uses three workspace roles: Owner, Admin, and Member. The Members page can also show pending invitations before the invitee accepts.

Open the workspace switcher in the sidebar, choose Manage workspace, then select Members to view members, invite teammates, resend pending invitations, change roles, or remove members.

Workspace Roles

RoleWhat they can do
OwnerOwns the workspace, can transfer ownership, can invite Admins or Members, can manage Admins and Members, can edit workspace account details, can change the text interviewer model, and can access billing.
AdminCan invite Members, remove Members, change the text interviewer model, and access billing. Admins cannot promote users to Admin, manage other Admins, remove the Owner, or transfer ownership.
MemberCan access the workspace, create and work with content they are allowed to access, manage their own default workspace preference, manage workspace integrations, and access billing. Members cannot manage workspace membership or ownership.
PendingAn invitation has been sent, but the invitee has not accepted yet. Pending users can be resent an invitation or removed.

Internal platform admins can bypass normal workspace limits for support and administration. They are not a workspace role you assign from Settings.

Invite Members

Owners and Admins can use Add New Member from the Members page.

The invite dialog accepts one email at a time and lets you choose:

  • Admin - available to Owners.
  • Member - available to Owners and Admins.

Perspective sends an invitation email. Until the user accepts, the member appears as Pending.

Change Roles

Owners can change confirmed members between Admin and Member. Owners cannot change the Owner role from the Members page; use ownership transfer for that.

Admins cannot promote Members to Admin and cannot manage other Admins.

Remove Members

Owners and Admins can remove members they are allowed to manage.

When a confirmed member is removed, Perspective transfers research and interview records owned by that member to the workspace Owner before removing the membership. Removing a pending invitation removes the invitation entry.

The workspace Owner cannot be removed from the Members page.

Workspace Access and Research Access

Workspace membership gives the user access to the workspace shell and workspace-visible content. It does not make every user the editor of every research project. Research ownership, collaborators, and visibility still matter when deciding who can edit a specific conversation agent or research result.
