Live captions in voice conversations, and agents that automatically match your participants' language

Improvements

  • Voice conversations now open with the written conversation on screen, so participants can read along while the agent speaks: closed captions, in effect. The words are right there for anyone hard of hearing, in a noisy place, or following along in a second language. Giving the persona the full screen is still one tap away.
  • Design your agent in another language and the conversation language is set for you: participants get conversations, and noticeably more accurate voice transcription, in their language without you touching a setting. When your audience's language is only likely, the agent offers a short suggestion instead of deciding for you, and it leaves any language you've set yourself alone.

Fixes

  • Fine-tuned how voice conversations handle overlap: on the rare occasion a participant and the agent speak at once, the agent gives way and listens from the very first word.
  • Asking for a text-only conversation while designing your agent now lands exactly as you mean it: participants simply get a text chat on the web, while phone calls stay spoken.
  • A small fix to the recent conversations feed: date dividers now scroll away with the list instead of stacking under the page title.
